Research Associate, Protein Chemistry

Seattle Genetics, Inc. is a new and growing biotechnology company based in Bothell, Washington.The Company is in clinical and preclinical development with several targeted agents for the treatment of carcinomas, melanomas, and hematologic malignancies. Seattle Genetics also has an active drug discovery effort.

Major Duties:

We have an opening for a Research Associate in our Conjugation Chemistry group to participate in the preparation and analysis of antibody-drug conjugates. Conjugates will be prepared for in vitro and in vivo analysis to support internal research and corporate collaborations. New methods of conjugate synthesis will be investigated, and improved analytical methods will be developed. The successful candidate will be part of a team interacting with chemistry, biology, and analytical groups within Seattle Genetics.

Requirements:

The successful candidate for this position will hold a degree in biochemistry or chemistry, will be competent with the full complement of bioanalytical techniques, and will be comfortable with the nomenclature and fundamentals of organic chemistry. Individuals with experience in the pharmaceutical industry and with a background involving the generation of biomolecules for in vivo investigation are particularly desirable. We seek a quick learner with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to form and maintain good working relationships. Experience working with radioactive materials is a plus, as is direct experience with monoclonal antibodies.
