Responsible for the overall management of patient recruitment efforts at Northstar. This responsibility includes the development of patient recruitment marketing materials and close integration with the Northstar, hospital based clinical management team and a third party vendor. The goal of this position is to ensure an appropriate level of subject recruitment to meet study enrollment objectives.
Incumbent must be a strong team player (as well as a leader) with a demonstrated ability to think out of the box and communicate effectively. Strong organization and analytical skills are required to track and communicate the efficacy of various recruitment tactics (i.e. community outreach, media, web-based, and site-specific support). Potential for future role in marketing department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Become proficient in cortical stimulation therapy and details of each clinical trial.
- Develop/update/revise patient recruitment strategy based on changing needs.
- Develop written recruitment plan for sites prior to study start-up.
- Periodically update team on new tactics and communicate ongoing success/challenges of strategy.
- Lead the development of a team-based approach for patient recruitment.
- Work closely with site clinical research coordinators.
- Provide coaching and on-going recruitment training to sites.
- Develop relationship with hospitals and patient-support groups to enhance patient recruitment.
- Integrate the clinical group (specifically the CRAs) into the patient recruitment process.
- Oversee and integrate a third party vendor call service company.
- Engage and inform upper management. Use the executive team, when appropriate, to deliver and/or emphasize patient recruitment messages to the clinical centers.
- Work periodically with marketing to coordinate market development efforts.
- Serve as the "champion" and point person for patient recruitment both internally and externally.
- Manage patient recruitment marketing materials.
- Update/develop appropriate centralized print, Internet, television and radio advertisements and collateral pieces for sites.
- Point person for ad development and placement coordination with the media services group.
- Manage a patient recruitment budget. Ensure that combined efforts stay within budget.
- Develop telephone-screening scripts based on Clinical Research Coordinator input and protocol review.
- Ensure that proper internal and IRB approval of all recruiting and retention materials (i.e. patient brochures) is received.
- Participate in the execution of patient recruitment tactics when necessary. Examples may include:
- Phone screen potential study participants.
- Organize and coordinate community outreach programs.
- Presentations at local stroke support groups.
- Contact groups within the hospital to gain access to recruitment sources and/or inform about the study.
- Develop and distribute periodic patient recruitment tracking/status reports.
- Track ongoing ROI metrics for all recruitment tactics.
- Communicate metrics in an easy to understand format to a wider internal and external audience.
Requirements:
- BA/BS in marketing or biological/life sciences.
- 3 or more years of medical industry experience, marketing or clinical research preferred.
- Self-starter, with ability to work independently and with proven problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Excellent communications skills (presentations, telephone, written).
- Enthusiastic and professional attitude.
- Ability to periodically work flexible schedules based on recruitment activities.
- Travel Requirements: 25-40% based on status of the study.
